PRESSURE SEALS

This types of seal is designed with a EVA-based pressure sensitive (PS) adhesive coated on a foam seal (extruded foamed Polystyrene) and a release coating on the back that does not come in contact with the product being sealed. It adheres to either glass or plastic bottles when applied and sticks to the container when the cap is removed. It is often seen as a cost effective option for products that requires liner seal as it does not require additional machinery to be applied.

The seal  is inserted into the screw closure (cap or lid) and adheres to the lip of the container when the cap is screwed on. Once the cap is applied, it should not be removed for at least 24 hours to ensure proper adhesion. Hence this seal is known as a Pressure Seal.

Pressure sensitive liners works well with dry products, and it is not recommended to be used with liquid products. The application area has to also be free of any moisture. Should the said area be moist the liner will fail to seal the container effectively.

These types of seals can be used to seal, for example:

Food supplements in capsules or tablets (dry form)

Spices

Nuts

These seals are heat-sensitive and should be stored between 15 to 20° C maximum and at a humidity between 40 and 60%.

The seals should be used within 90 days after receipt.

Once the seals have been placed in the caps, they should be used within 9 months.

The induction sealing process involves an electromagnetic current that is applied to an aluminum seal liner. This process takes place after the container has been filled and capped, seal already placed inside the cap. The induction current then heats the aluminum liner, melting the sealant.

This type of liner can be used to seal various plastic and glass containers filled with dry or liquid products.

These seals need to be stored in a cool dry location, out of direct sunlight and away from any heat source.

To ensure sealing properties and quality, do not store for more than 18 months.
